Strategy

Can you include team building in a strategy workshop?

Of course, the way we work is to bring out the best of what exists in every organisation we work with, so just let us know your goal and we will work this into the design of your workshop / meeting.

We’re a charity/not-for-profit/education institution, do you have special rates for us?

Yes! Education, social entrepreneurs and charities are close to our hearts. Each year we reserve 20% of our time for working with you at discounted rates. Contact us for a consultation to find out more.

We’ve always facilitated our strategy workshop ourselves, why would we need a facilitator?

We get asked this all the time. The simple answer is: you can take part in the discussion without having to lead and manage it. You can listen fully to your colleagues and really hear their point’s of view. The key information will be captured and the workshop will be facilitated professionally, giving everyone time to contribute.

I’ve been to strategy meetings before, how is this different?

We take a positive approach to what is going on, ensuring that key issues are addressed. In every team or organisation there will be things that you do a great job at and if you do more of these, there would be huge opportunities and satisfaction. We help you identify what is great and what you need to do to grow that.

Can you give us an agenda for our workshop (virtual or in-person)?

Yes of course, we’ll provide this once we understand your needs.

Who should we invite to the strategy workshops?

Great question! It depends, what works best it to have all voices represented, that might mean that some people take part in a survey, some people are interviewed and that a smaller group of people attend the workshop. We’ve facilitated in-person workshops with between 5 - 200 people, and for over 100 people virtually. We’ll ask you who your stakeholders are and then discuss how best is to get all voices heard.

What is the difference between Strategic Thinking and Strategic Planning?

Life moves at a fast pace! When is that last time you scheduled time to think broadly? Too often strategies are planned without giving time to the team to think and explore, that’s why we explicitly have time for Strategic Thinking before Strategic Planning. If you do some good strategic thinking, the planning is much easier!

I know my team needs this, but others might need some convincing. What do you suggest?

We are happy to have a call with you and your key stakeholders / team to understand what they would like to get from this or what obstacles they see. Or, we can put you in touch with one of our clients to hear directly from them about the benefits.

Coaching

What is the difference between coaching and counselling?

Coaching is forward-focused while counselling is more focused on the past. There can be overlap, but if we think we are going more towards counselling territory we’ll let you know and we can discuss what the right next step is for you.

What about confidentiality?

Confidentiality is very important to us and we ensure both that your sessions are confidential and that your data is carefully protected in line with GDPR best practice.

Will I have “homework” to do?

Maybe! We can talk about what works best for you.
